The Government has confirmed it's not considering Graduated Driving Licensing.

CEO of RoadPeace Howard Jones said: “We're deeply disappointed by the refusal to consider GDL. The evidence is clear: GDL has saved lives in other countries and it will do the same here."

Young driver debate in Parliament.

It was great to be able to listen, whilst in the room, to the recent debate on young driver risk. It was also positive so many MPs were in attendance and spoke. I am told there were also MPs who wanted to speak but were unable to due to running out of time. There was so much support for #GDL except from @LilianGreenwood and @gregsmith_uk - surprisingly in agreement! As some other MPs were a bit too vague it was tricky to know!

I have since learned that the room layout mirrors the House of Commons chamber seating, in that MPs sit in their tribe. At the back of the room were members of #ForgetMeNotFamiliesUniting and because we filled all the seats others were in a second room next door! The left hand side of the picture was space for @Conservatives MPs - with one seat occupied …

Good to see this from @racfoundation as rural roads, with the clear but wide ranging definition, get neglected in the discourse on how to #StopRoadDeath.

Remember each year around 60% of people killed or seriously injured on Britain’s road happen on rural roads - especially single carriageways.

Here’s a rural road near me with the speed limit at 60 and 30 - either side of the (blurry) sign! It is blurry because of the photo quality and because the sign itself has not been maintained and so difficult to read.
