@JoeMerrick@MurkaDurkah I was 9 years old when Gold and Silver came out, and even at 9 I knew what a shiny was and that they were worth bragging about.
@bleachersmusic “american east coast bleachers people and world travelers please hold may 23rd in your calendars”
Jack please tell me world travellers includes Sydney
@JoeMerrick@SerebiiNet This is basically just a reflection of VGC shifting over to Champions, right?
Like, ‘you can still play here if you want, but we’ll be actively maintaining the competitive scene over here’.
@JezCorden@Chris_Dring He’s right though, isn’t he? Like, hardware is not what is currently holding game development back, it’s money. In the majority of living rooms, what’s to be gained from more powerful consoles?
@Boltzmannbaby@JezCorden This is the sort of stuff that turns me off capitalism in its current format in the western world tbh - should be illegal, but it won’t happen, because the system isn’t broken, it’s functioning exactly as it’s meant to.
@Boltzmannbaby@JezCorden Unfortunately, senior management do not view lay offs as a consequence of failure. It isn’t ’removing people’s livelihood’, it’s ‘controlling our costs’. He’ll be rewarded with bonuses, because he’s done what they want him to do.
@JustinAlphabet@Captain_Boltoks@DestinLegarie This isn’t a defence of the price increase from last year. It’s a criticism of the price increase from last year (and how overall confusing Game Pass tiers became) referencing a meme from a few years back.
@sheepp91 The performance is absolutely not an issue for me, but it definitely chugs from time to time.
I’d even go so far as to suggest that even though dev started on the Switch 1, the final product would not run on a Switch 1 without significant compromise (if at all).
@iwearahoodie@toiletpaperaus1 The expectation that this will never change because it’s not indexed is also unfounded. Our tax brackets also aren’t indexed, but if you go back 27 years and compare income tax brackets, you can see they’re very different to today’s.
@iwearahoodie@toiletpaperaus1 Median wage is currently $90k according to ABS.
Assuming inflation of 4% (average over the last 20 years is 2.5%), it will take roughly 28 years for the median wage to be $250k.
18 year olds are also not likely to start on the median wage, but a fair chunk lower.
