We will never see anything like this again in our lifetimes.
If you have a few minutes, watch it. Probably the greatest music video ever made.
Michael Jackson - Thriller (1983)
On this day in 1984, "Purple Rain" was released. The motion picture grossed $68.4 million on a $7.2 million budget and debuted at number 1 in its opening weekend.
At one point, Prince had the number 1 film, number 1 single, and number 1 album in the US, simultaenously.
"If U only see one concert this year, the PRINCE movie is the one."

For those waiting for an official announcement....
The estate does not own the rights to the SOTT movie and in each country, it is owned by different companies/entities. Which should explain why this is being released in a wider range this year than in years past.
Somewhat been that way since 1987 as Warners was not interested in another Prince movie after how UTCM did. It was originally licensed to MCA/Universal to be shown at the Cineplex Odeon chains that Universal owned at the time.
So decades before Miss Swift & Beyonce were making deals with AMC for their concerts to be shown in their theatres, Prince provided the blue print. Albeit there is more of a market for it now yet still. He was the first. ๐
Having said that, just like with anniversaries, the estate should jump on this being back in the theaters and promote it like they own it cause I'd like to see more "Sign O' The Times" shirts being worn than "Purple Rain" and also others discover SOTT Super Deluxe
Much love & I hope people have fan parties for this & take over the theater.

Absolutely stunned to hear that Angie Stone passed away this morning from a car accident at 63.
"U Make My Sunshine" indeed but today is a little cloudier without her here.
Thanks to B.P. for letting me know. Harsh news. ๐๐๐ https://t.co/OyFo9CRbAh
