Many thanks to the organizers of #ICCPB2019! What a great introduction to this congress. Super organized, exciting science, and (most importantly) excellent coffee break snacks. 😋 I hope to see everyone in 2023! Maybe in Australia (one of my favorite places)?!
The heart of the Greenland shark has high levels of collagen, so is stiff, with large myonuclei & small nucleoli. There is evidence for both hyperplasia and hypertrophy of the heart as the animals age. Analysis of transcriptomics data from the heart is just beginning! #ICCPB2019
Interesting talk from Chris Wood on the physiological roles of dissolved organic carbon. The effects of DOC on ionoregulation are generally positive, especially at low pH. #ICCPB2019
Takashi Yoshimura shows data suggesting that medaka colour perception varies seasonally. This seems to be mediated by changes in expression of opsin genes and components of the downstream signalling pathway #ICCPB2019
How to keep a room full of hungover scientists engaged? Talk about super awesome science! Incredible final plenary lecture @ICCPB2019 from Holly Shiels #ICCPB2019
