Annan took a step further and helped mediate the 2007/2008 post election violence which resulted to cessation of hostiles and the signing of the National Accord. His efforts led to a new constitution and other reforms in Kenya. May his soul rest in peace.

It is with sadness that the Forum learns of the demise of former UNSG Kofi Annan. His greatest contribution to peace efforts was the concept of Responsibility to Protect by member states in other states facing atrocities such as genocide and war crimes...

Therefore, African states can intervene in each others intra-state conflict where atrocities such as genocide,war crimes, and crimes against humanity are being committed. This can be done mediation and even coercion where necessary.
