The Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah, one of the very few functional health facilities in the south of Gaza, is undergoing an overhaul to continue addressing urgent health-care needs.
The upgrade comes after a lengthy approval process and will result in meaningful improvements across the hospital as well as an expansion from 60 to 72 beds. Patients and staff will benefit from an improved operating theatre, upgraded emergency and outpatient departments, renovated maternity and paediatric care, reduced overcrowding in wards and improved post-surgical care.

Different landscapes. Different crises. The same human heart.
Across the world, our staff and volunteers and the people they serve are neighbors, friends, colleagues, family members.
This is what unites us. This is who we are, united in humanity. #8May#RedCrossRedCrescentDay

Attacks on critical infrastructure are not only about what is destroyed, but also about the people left without what they need to live.
Even wars have limits.
They must be respected.
We said it in the 1990s.
We said it in the 2000s.
We stand by it in 2026.
Anti-personnel mines kill and maim indiscriminately. There’s only one way to be safe: To get rid of them.
On the #MineAwarenessDay we call on all parties to conflicts to stop using them.

We mourn this terrible loss, and our thoughts are with her loved ones and the Iranian Red Crescent Society during this difficult time 👇🏽
When wars are fought in cities, an estimated 90% of casualties are civilians.
Homes without families.
Schools without students.
Patients without medicines.
Hospitals without electricity.
Neighborhoods without people.
Heavy explosive weapons shouldn't be used in cities.
“The military escalation in the Middle East is igniting a dangerous chain reaction across the region, with potentially devastating consequences for civilians.”
