The weather outside is frightful but doing an asynchronous Math AQ from the comfort of your own home is so delightful. Last chance to join @OISE_CPL P/J Math Part 2 or Math specialists courses beginning this Thursday Jan 18! Boards are still subsidizing. Don’t miss your chance!
@HKhodai I call that “productive procrastination.” I mastered it in university. How could you be productive writing when there are all of those other things “needing” to be done?
Check out the new math curriculum at https://t.co/0iM00bzCtR #onted I know that there were some very good people working behind the scenes to make this as relevant and research-based as possible (and beyond the political rhetoric). Thanks to them for their efforts!
My guests, @greenshannon16 & @vickitabhatt share the benefits of going gradeless: True ed equity, social justice, less anxiety, no cheating & growth mentality. They give practical tips & tools for how to do it. Includes shout out to @Jessifer#ungrading https://t.co/Gg7elPJDSb
Playing “Go Fish 10” with Isla. Talked about the switcheroo (commutative property), 8+2=2+8 and made other true statements like 1+9=4+6 and 5+5=3+7 while exploring equality.
On to problem solving. Stella: What numbers can you divide by three so there is a remainder of one? Isla’s from @mburnsmath: A collection of animals has 16 legs, what animals could they be?
Working on mastering math facts today, multiplication for Stella using Kamii’s 4-in-a-Row and doubling for Isla using @ctfosnot Doubles Bingo. Yep, those are homemade boards and materials.
Number tasks for my daughters today inspired by @marian_small, Stella: The product of two numbers is about 50, what are the factors? Isla: I have three coins in my pocket, how much money might I have?
