El 1 y 2 de junio de 1941, una turba de atacantes, incitada por nacionalistas iraquíes alineados con los nazis, desató un brutal pogrom contra la comunidad judía de Bagdad.

Cientos de judíos fueron asesinados, miles resultaron heridos, y hogares y negocios judíos fueron saqueados y destruidos.

En ese momento, el Muftí de Jerusalén, Amin al-Husseini, vivía en Bagdad. Aliado de la Alemania nazi, difundió una virulenta propaganda antisemita y alimentó el odio contra los judíos.

Conocida como el Farhud, esta masacre marcó el principio del fin de la comunidad judía de Irak, que tenía 2.600 años de historia.

En los años siguientes los judíos iraquíes se vieron obligados a huir, encontrando refugio en su mayoría en Israel.

Hoy, ya no quedan judíos en Irak.

Lebanon’s president and prime minister have no shame in attacking Israel for doing what they should have done: striking Hezbollah.

After thousands of attacks on Israel from their territory, they offer no apology - and rather come with demands.

They did not disarm Hezbollah. They did not and do not prevent it from firing on Israel. They lied when they claimed they had demilitarized the area up to the Litani.

Now we must do it instead of them.
Hezbollah ministers still serve in the Lebanese government, and the Iranian ambassador remains in Beirut, openly defying their own decisions.
