True friends: How many have you got?
The Prophet ﷺ sought refuge with Allah from:
“A cunning friend whose eye watches me while his heart is plotting against me; if he sees something good, he buries it, and if he sees something bad, he spreads it.”
Be a sincere, honest friend!
A beautiful evening with the community at @TawheedCardiff discussing the tests and trials of social media, along with practical principles to benefit from it while avoiding its harms.

Sh Luhaydan was asked (paraphrased):
“Why do bad things happen to good people?”
He said, “Perhaps Allah wants for them a house in paradise that they couldn’t achieve with their actions!”
Perhaps Allah purifies through these hardships that you go through so that your access to Jannah is made easier!

Shaykh Rabīʿ b. Hādī al-Madkhalī (may Allāh have mercy upon him)
It is obligatory to acquire this knowledge by devoting oneself to it night and day, giving it precedence over everything else in existence, caring for it with the utmost care, and conveying it to the people.
Muḥammad ﷺ conveyed it, and the Companions conveyed it through speech and clear explanation. They strove for the sake of Allāh as He deserves to be striven for, and they conveyed this religion through every means of communication available to them.
Therefore, Allāh blessed them and opened the world to them because of their sincerity, truthfulness, faith, beneficial knowledge, and righteous actions. He opened lands and hearts for them.
Whoever follows their example—even if he does not leave an impact equal to theirs—will not be far removed from their condition.

This worldly life is one from which Allah ﷻ gives to the believer and the disbeliever, the righteous and the wicked alike. Allah ﷻ causes the days to alternate among the people: one day in favour of one group, and another day in favour of another. This is because the life of this world is temporary and destined to come to an end. As for the Hereafter, it is exclusively for those who believed.
Islamic history offers repeated, striking illustrations of Allah ﷻ raising the humble to positions of great authority, and casting down the mighty from thrones that once seemed unshakeable.

Use social media to spread Tawhid, the Sunnah, and piety.
Avoid debating the foolish.
Don’t isolate yourselves in WhatsApp/Telegram groups.
That’s exactly what the people of falsehood desire.
And some of these groups become places where the seeds of Fitan are planted.
The problem with “LIVE YOUR TRUTH” is simple:
Your truth can be wrong.
A Muslim is not commanded to live by his truth, but by the Truth.
Your “truth” can be distorted by desires, emotions, trauma, society, or misinformation.
“That is because Allah is the Truth.” (22:6)
Your smile is being recorded
In an age where many enjoy using the smiling emoji to mock their brothers and sisters, you should understand your smile is being recorded.
Ibn Abī al-Dunyā, narrated in, The Condemnation of Backbiting, and Ibn Abī Ḥātim narrated from Ibn Abbās regarding the statement of Allah:
مَالِ هَـٰذَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةًۭ وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّآ أَحْصَىٰهَا
“What is with this Book?! It leaves neither a minor sin nor a major sin except that it has recorded it.” (Sura al-Kahf 18:49)
Ibn Abbās said: “The minor sin is smiling when a believer is mocked, and the major sin is laughing aloud at them.”
