The German Chancellor and the Indian Prime Minister established the Indo-German Energy FORUM (IGEF) in April 2006.

A German delegation led by Dr. Heike Henn, Director General, Department of International Climate Action, BMUKN, met Shri Mayank Tiwari, Additional Secretary, MNRE, at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in New Delhi today to discuss the ongoing India–Germany cooperation in Renewable Energy and climate action.

The discussions focused on industrial cooperation in renewable energy, energy storage, and robust transmission systems. Opportunities for joint research, technology development and industry partnerships to support innovation and manufacturing at scale were also explored.

Both sides emphasised deeper collaboration to advance future-ready clean energy solutions.
