7:30PM 9/25 Update: Hurricane Helene is now poised to make landfall along the Florida Big Bend as a Cat. 4 Hurricane Thursday. Our local forecast remains largely on track with our biggest change being the issuance of Tropical Storm and Hurricane Warnings across our area. #gawx
As Helene continues to take shape and move this way, we want everyone to be aware of the potential for flooding in north Georgia (including Atlanta) Wednesday and Wednesday night. The expected heavy rainfall during this period will be well in advance of Helene's arrival #gawx
Here's the timeline. Storms and heavy rain arrive as early as Wednesday afternoon for some. By Thursday morning, it will be pouring. Expect heavy rain through most of the day Thursday. The heaviest rain & strongest wind is expected early Friday morning. We dry out Friday evening.
GEMA/HS is closely monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone #9 and is forecasted to impact Georgia on Thursday and Friday.
Significant wind damage, flash flooding from heavy rainfall and possible tornadoes may occur. Stay tuned to your local @NWS office.
Happy #LaborDay! Let's give a big thank you to all the golf course maintenance teams who worked so hard this summer to deliver great playing conditions for golfers to enjoy.
If you've ever wondered why some tees look like they have more dirt than grass on them by the end of the summer, these factors in divot recovery play a big role 👇
@BusekTim Looks responsibly managed considering the situation 👏 . We have moved back to Cart Path Only until this pattern breaks and we get good recovery.
I love the big reveals of those areas that look good during abundant rainfall events actually lack in moisture retention.
Bunker sand consistency is a common source of questions and complaints. Golfers wonder why sand doesn't play exactly the same from bunker to bunker on a course, and why the sand plays different at a course down the street. Here are some of the key reasons 👇
Happy #EarthDay2024! To celebrate, we want to share some facts about golf courses and the environment. You may already know some of them, but you might be surprised by a few as well 👇
Happy Earth Day! #Tahoma31 is a welcomed addition to our BMP program that has helped us reduce inputs to maintain a healthy and sustainable (don’t forget playable!) crop of turfgrass. #grassisgreen#greenisgood#EarthDay2024
Drought resistant. Low water use. Cold hardy. Salt tolerant. Tahoma 31 is a GREEN grass. Happy Earth Day!

Speaking with @ShaneRice33 on a great great topic and something I’ve never thought about. For my turf friends who have held the “director of agronomy” title and also “golf course superintendent” title. What were some of the biggest differences between the two positions?
🏌️⛳ Our Director of Golf, Lance, knows how to make weekends unforgettable! 🌟 Members had a blast playing at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Prattville, AL this past weekend. 🌳🏞️ From perfect drives to memorable putts, it was a weekend filled with pure golfing joy! 🙌
Managing earthworm casts in the spring can be a big challenge, but there are steps superintendents can take to minimize the impact on maintenance and playability 👇
Our first rainfall report from our new Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, & Snow Network station in East Cobb, 0.48” recorded by GA-CB-75. #ATLwx#gawx#datacollection#precise#CoCoRaHS
A: Our crew is trained to be aware of the golfing membership. However, if their attention remains on the task at hand, then please get their attention so they can move to a safer, less disruptive location or they will wave your group to play through as normal while watching.
Our monthly safety meetings include a section about member/golfer interactions and best practices for avoiding accidents, injuries, or conflicts. #InThisTogether#SafetyFirst#ExcuseOurMess
As spring golf really gets going, remember that it's also a busy time for the maintenance team. Golfers need to make sure they're sharing the course safely with the staff 👇
