Ngl it’s exhausting hearing athletes break down how their millions “aren’t really millions” after taxes and fees. 40M after taxes is still 40M.
The real issue isn’t the system, it’s lifestyle creep. Nobody told you to live like a king, buy 5 cars, or move with a 10‑person entourage. Modest is allowed.
Could a team that posted a .439 points percentage and finished 31st in the NHL last season use the kind of talent of a player that is 25 in his prime, Stanley Cup winner, played all 82 games last two seasons at 22 minutes a night, was top 20 in 5on5 points for defenseman in the league and a horse in the playoffs last year?
Guess we'll find out this year. Perspective is a powerful thing.
@Harian_Mossa someone finally said it, he was great for buffalo in the playoffs and regular season last year and if the fourth pick had ended up being as good as him i’d have considered it a win
Byram was an absolute stud at 17 in his draft year. Led Van to WHL final Game 7 v. an experienced Prince Albert team.
I’m always intrigued how people assume the #4 pick this year will be so much better than Byram.
I bet he thrives in Chicago. Run the PP. Will move puck up to Bedard and other skilled forwards. He was 21st in 5x5 scoring last year. More next year. Very competitive player. Chicago can’t keep waiting for youth. He’s only 25. Has won a Cup and will boost Chicago’s blueline.
The suggestions this is a terrible trade seems to be based solely on the overrating of what #4 could be, and usually player doesn’t reach the outlandish expectation.
