“We’re not going to back down.”
Nurses at St. Mary of Nazareth hospital in Chicago are on a one-day unfair labor practice strike. Prime Healthcare, the owners of the hospital, fired six nurses for protected union activity shortly after the nurses filed for a union election.
The nurses are demanding better pay and benefits, safer working conditions, and the reinstatement of those fired. The unionization vote will take place on June 17, and they will join National Nurses United if successful.
Today Strike Map joined the @the_IWU picket line outside Leinster House, Dublin. Healthcare Assistants are on strike for pay parity. Equal pay for equal work. End trade union victimisation.

100 Days on Strike
We've been on strike for 100 days because Lorain County Commissioners refuse to come to the table for $1.
That's $1 an hour. That's all. Those are the raises we are demanding.
That would cost less than $300,000 -- and most of it would be covered by the state, NOT the county.
Meanwhile, service failures are piling up.
Clients are reaching out to us personally for guidance.
The Dept of Health is saying our clients are falling through the cracks.
Nursing home representatives -- people from management -- are coming to County Board meetings to describe months of delays and vulnerable clients not getting approvals.
What have the Commissioners done since all this?
For one, they've added $9 million in new administrative positions. While putting the county in crisis.
Coming back to the table costs nothing!
100 days in, and we are stronger than we've ever been out here.
We don't think we can say the same for Moore, Riddell, and Gallagher!

For two years, Spring Glass has engaged in bad-faith and regressive bargaining—most recently demanding that our members take a massive wage cut in the middle of a high-inflation economy.
Glaziers Local 1778 is officially on an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike against Spring Glass. Call Spring Glass and demand that they respect our rights and stop committing Unfair Labor Practices: https://t.co/Numhd25wsR
Journalists at the Tri-City Herald and several other news outlets in Washington are going on strike today to protest what they call poor wages and unfair labor practices by McClatchy Media, the owner of the news outlets. https://t.co/9FvTRQCfPi
Workers at Lorain County JFS won't back down until the County Commissioners come back to the bargaining table to end the strike with a fair contract that serves the community.

Rail Teamsters from the @BLET are on strike for a fair contract at Long Island Rail Road and picketing major terminals at New York Penn Station, Ronkonkoma, and Jamaica.
BLET Teamsters at Long Island Rail Road are bargaining for a contract as a coalition with 3,500 workers from five unions.
300,000 people rely on LIRR to get to and from New York City every day.
If the MTA-owned LIRR fails to offer its union workers a fair contract, a work stoppage could start as soon as this Saturday, May 16!
ON STRIKE: Unionized staff at @EdSourceGuild, the largest education newsroom in California, are on strike today, May 14th.
Workers are protesting unilateral changes to healthcare benefits and management’s lack of progress toward a fair contract.
