These results suggest that placental allografts may offer superior wound healing and cosmetic outcomes in post-Mohs reconstruction.

When using skin substitute grafts or cellular/tissue-based products (CTPs) for advanced wound care, it’s critical to understand what is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲:
1️⃣ More than 8 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 of a skin substitute within a single episode of care (up to 16 weeks).
2️⃣ Repeat applications when prior treatments show 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (e.g., no reduction in ulcer size, depth, or signs of healing).
3️⃣ Application in patients with 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 or 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 like active infection, necrosis, vasculitis, or ischemia.
4️⃣ Using 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 alongside routine or repeat applications of skin substitutes.
5️⃣ Employing 𝐥𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐞𝐥 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 for ulcer care.
6️⃣ Placement of skin substitutes on wounds that are 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜, 𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜.
