Baseless propaganda exhibiting colossal illiteracy on demographic transition cycle of different states and regions being different since 1872, the year first census was conducted. The fact is: from the first and 2nd census since 1872 & 1881, the South grew at a much faster pace until 1951 and even up to 1971 and raised their national population share from 22% to 26%, while the share of the north declined from around 50% to 42% (measured as per the current state boundaries). However, when the north and western states entered second phase of demographic transition, their faster growth phase which southern states had already completed, Ms, Indira Gandhi put an embargo on delimitation during notorious 42nd constitutional amendment enacted during the excesses of Emergency, partly because the epicentre of the anti -Emergency protests were in north and west India. Now, leaders like @mkstalin and others are misleading the nation by remaining silent on the cycle of demographic growth being different in different regions and states. Still the share of north India is less than what is was in 1881 ( measured as per the current state boundaries). Hence, this entire propaganda of population explosion theory by north is plain propaganda.
However, the real picture has been rigorously discussed in the book, Demography, Representation, Delimitation: The North -South Divide in India, by Ravi K Mishra.
