Excited to be involved in this study from ABIS cohort, just published in Cell, on #gutmicrobiome & metabolome preceding neurocognitive disorders. Super kudos to Angelica Ahrens, @ewtriplett & Johnny Ludvigsson.

Day 2 of #IMMEDIATE progress meeting in Milan with partners joining in person and online. We started with a presentation by Alex Dickens, who presented the work of our sister project @INITIALISE_EU. Continuing with workshops to discuss the details and needs of each work package.
Lots happened @INITIALISE_EU since it kicked off. 2 new partners, papers in top tier journals (including one coming out soon), this year large scale #multiomics studies being initiated (incl #glycomics, new addition), mechanistic studies in high gear.
Next year mtg in Stockholm.
Good scientific start of the year: the study led by my friend and colleague @jingyuan_fu is published in @Nature! This work is focused on deletions and duplications of microbial genes and how they are related to human genetic variants. @GroMicrobiome@UMCGgenetica@LifelinesNL
A great conference coming up @freiaprojectEU@INITIALISE_EU partners will be attending. I have registered.

Excellent review by Clare @lloyd_lab & @sejalsaglani@ImperialNHLI@ImperialPaeCH on early life interactions btw a developing immune system, colonizing microbes and protective/damaging environmental factors with longterm consequences for lung health: https://t.co/mCqGoQ704C
The #COVID19 SARS-CoV-2 new onset Type 1 #Diabetes#T1D epidemiology saga keeps unfolding "There was an increase in T1D incidence during April–June 2021 compared with April–June 2015–2019, but this could not be attributed to SARS-CoV-2 infection" https://t.co/DazeygmzI2
Researchers @BioscienceTurku and @InFLAMES_Health have identified a gene expression signature that can predict the progression of type 1 diabetes. One benefit of such predictive signature could be the ability to intervene earlier in the disease process. https://t.co/afQtHI8PZb
@INITIALISE_EU kickoff was followed by minisymposium yesterday, featuring several of our visitors (INITIALISE PIs), opened with lecture by @SashaZhernakova. Series of highly interesting lectures on early-life factors impacting life-course health.

Busy 1st day @INITIALISE_EU kickoff in Turku. Setting up #multiomics longitudinal studies across multiple birth cohort studies, with many different outcomes, is quite challenging, but we are well on the way.
Now time for 1st consortium dinner!
