🚀The study shows that a degree of visual function can be recovered even at advanced disease stages. While this is not normal sight (patients could not read or recognize faces) the findings lay the groundwork for improved optogenetic therapies.

👁️Vision restoration: How close are we?
A landmark result in one patient was only the beginning. Five years later, new data from 10 blind patients point to a safe step forward for optogenetic therapy.

🧠 The brain responded, too.
EEG detected visual signals in the treated patients.
Training also mattered: those who spent more time learning to use the goggles tended to perform better in object-detection tests.
