Launch of Climate Justice, Social Differentiation and Mobility in the Horn of Africa Module at the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Hargeisa in the Republic of Somaliland.
The IPCS in collaboration with Rift Valley Institute (RVI), the Open Society University Network Hub for Connected Learning Initiatives & the Black Mountains College (UK) launched an M.A module on ‘Climate Justice, Social Differentiation & Mobility’ at the University of Hargeisa.
Also, the discussions covered the changing political dynamics of the Horn of Africa, the role Somaliland plays in securing waters of the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, and Somaliland’s strategic importance in an era of emerging New Cold War.
The U.S. Congressional Staff Delegation visited the University of Hargeisa. The delegation had an academic discussion with the university community about Somaliland education and the role it played in state and peace-building processes.
Weighing the pros and cons of the African state’s foreign policy, we conclude that the swing foreign strategies of the African states greatly affected Africa politically, socially, and economically.
We are honored to have the opportunity of inviting Dr. Adeoye O. Akinola (Ph.D) as our guest speaker. Dr. Akinola from the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation (IPTC) at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa talked about an interesting and timely topic.
The lecture highlighted the major determinants of Africa’s foreign policy from the Cold War era which is the period when the African continent was caught between the competition of the US and the USSR, to unipolar, & to an age of emerging multipolar world order.
Selected students will be offered a scholarship grant that covers their subsistence and research needs during the course of training.

The IPCS-RVI seeks applications from 15 students enrolled in relevant M.A programs at universities in Somaliland.
