*ISOLATION IN RAILWAY SIGNALLING:*
Isolation is provided so that a movement of a train is separated from all adjoining lines connected to it in such a manner that it cannot be fouled or interfered by any movement taking place on the adjoining lines .
What could be the reason?
- As the accident appears to be in the block section of double line (not in Station Section); SPAD (Signal Passing at Danger) appears to be most probable reason.
There are two loco pilots in the train engine. So missing the signal by both is rare.
And yes, Kavach ( or ETCS, TPWS and other such systems) would have prevented this accident.

Permissive Railway Signals are identified by:
Color light Signal: a โPโ board on the Signal post.
Semaphore Signal: Fish tail on the arm of signal.
On basis of uses Signals are classified as
-Stop Signal: it has Danger aspect. Train must stop at Danger aspect .
-Permissive Signal: It doesnโt have Danger Aspect. Train will pass this signal.
In colour light Signalling there may be an extra condition called โattentionโ.

Green-R-Proceed
Semaphore Signals may be of two type. Lower Quadrant (LQ) conveying only two condition or Upper Quadrant(UQ) Conveying three conditions. Conditions indicated are Danger, Caution or Proceed.
