As predicted by visionaries like John von Neumann and Ray Kurzweil, the possibilities for innovation in our field are limitless. Stanislaw Ulam in 1958 speaking with John von Neumann on technology he quoted him saying "centered on the accelerating progress of technology and changes in the mode of human life, which gives the appearance of approaching some essential singularity in the history of the race beyond which human affairs, as we know them, could not continue". - (Ref - "Tribute to John Von Neumann" Bulletin of the American Mathematical Society. 64 #3 1957) Kurzweil built upon this in his opus - Ref - The Singularity is Near When Humans Transcend Biology Viking Press 2005. He described the key ideas of Von Neumanns quote - acceleration and singularity. 2024 - Here we go!

1/ Interesting Comments from NHS CEOs:
One CEO described current rates being paid as "mixed". Massive understatement - we found huge variation of rates being paid including different rates for the same type of work in the same trust and even the same operating theatre #notfair
Nipple-sparing mastectomy combined with mastopexy gives patients with ptosis a creative option to enhance aesthetic results. An exemplar of how Plastic Surgeons' aesthetic sense improves reconstructive outcomes. Compliments to our colleagues at Loma Linda. https://t.co/boQiOzd3Qj

Dear outgoing FY2s.
You were the cohort that graduated in the pandemic, became interim FY1s, and started medicine during COVID.
You have cast iron permission to spend the rest of your career explaining, how it was much worse when you were an FY1.
Thank you!
insanely proud of our new #doctorsmess - it was the outcome of a fabulous group of people coming together and having a laugh painting until 3am one weekend
it’s not often that you see, let alone make, genuine and sincere change in the NHS but we did it!
the NHS needs more of it
