Dr. Faisal Buyinza’s side of the story requires looking at what he and his defense team stated directly to authorities and in court:
• Total Denial of Involvement: Ever since his initial arrest in December 2011, Dr. Buyinza has consistently denied all accusations. He maintains that he was not the mastermind behind the attack and had nothing to do with it.
• A Victim of the Same Attack: Police records from the night of the incident show that Dr. Buyinza was also physically affected. According to investigative reports by AllAfrica, detectives had to escort Buyinza to Mulago Hospital because he had sustained physical acid burns around his arm during the commotion at his apartment doorway.
• Counter-Accusations of Infidelity: Before the tragic incident, the relationship had broken down due to mutual suspicion. Dr. Buyinza’s side of the domestic dispute included allegations that Nakiryowa was having extramarital affairs, which he stated was the primary reason they had separated weeks prior.
• Lack of Conviction and Evidence: Legally, his defense has pointed out that the allegations remain unproven in a criminal court. During the trial, his defense lawyer, John Paul Baigana, protested the prosecution's delays and missing police files, arguing that the state lacked substantive evidence and witnesses to prove guilt.
Because the criminal case stalled and never resulted in a conviction, Dr. Buyinza retains his legal presumption of innocence and has continued his academic career.
Though all that!!!! Courts of law still say he's innocent 😭🙌

Years ago, she was interviewed by mamito, @JustineNameere, on NTV’s Real Life Stories. Her story was told, the attention faded and life moved on as though nothing had happened, yet justice was never served.
Today, that needs to change. Hanifah Nakiryowa deserves justice.
#JusticeForHanifah
What happened to Hanifa was horrific, and no woman should ever endure such violence. Her courage is an inspiration.
We must move beyond sympathy: speak out, support survivors, demand accountability, and never normalize violence against women.
# We Demand Justice for Hanifa
@hanakiryowa@MakCoBAMS@Makerere MAK please do something! The lectures have a lot of unmonitored authority, mainly when it comes to students marks. Therefore , May be a jointly monitored, evaluated and centralised marking body, should be put in place in all universities, that is! Justice shd prevail
