Honoured to have Honourable DPM/FM Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar deliver Inaugural Address at the 5th Edition of #ISSI’s Islamabad Conclave, with thematic focus on “Re-imagining South Asia: Security, Economy, Climate, Connectivity.” DG ISSI Amb. Sohail Mahmood highlighted South Asia’s security, development & regional cooperation deficits & stressed the need to fundamentally rethink approaches in these crucial domains. DPM/FM Dar shared Pakistan’s perspective on the global geo-political and geo-economic environment, challenges of peace & development in South Asia, and the perils posed by climate change. He stressed the imperative of changing the paradigm from confrontation to cooperation and re-thinking regional cooperation architecture to adapt to new realities and pragmatically promote constructive collaboration through new formats with ‘variable geometry.’
