Currently, the US is facing a STEEP shortage of teachers, with nearly 300,000 vacancies nationwide threatening to turn the education system on its head.
We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. They get 15 mins of recess every hour. They have NO standardized tests except for PISA in HS and they outperform us every time. Ironically, in the 1970's, they modeled their education based on US schools and US university research.
There is a massive teacher and staff shortage in the state of Florida that has only grown more severe in the past few years. Politicians will not solve this shortage, or improve the learning conditions of our students, by attacking the rights of Florida's teachers and staff.
Why can’t we have a 4-day week for the students, then a whole day for teachers to plan, collaborate, etc?
I feel like it’s a no brainer but no one wants to pull the trigger.
