I wore “51” when I played high school baseball just before Randy Johnson made his @MLB debut.
I never thought that number would get retired, but @Mariners have done it twice (along with Ichiro Suzuki)!

@yanxchick My favorite basketball card changes from time to time, but it’s usually involves a Lakers player.

That reminds me of when early speculation was reported that Tyus Edney’s 96-97 Autographics appeared to be short printed. I wonder if I still have that basketball issue.

Of course, the price guides were important back then, but the info endures and I’m always tempted to pick up an issue when I see them at stores and shows @BeckettGMColin

@BeckettGMColin Here’s an example of a Hot List of “other sports” from 2013. Although Wrestling, MMA, Golf, Racing, Soccer & Tennis are getting more popular & products they might not necessitate individual monthly magazines at this time, but deserve some hobby representation in print

@BeckettGMColin Bringing back “Beckett Sports Card Monthly” as the “all” magazine would be awesome! Use the Vintage paper stock. Include the hot lists from the sport-specific magazines & “other sports” & “pop culture” hot lists. Have a small price guide for new & hot cards to promote OPG

@BeckettGMColin More collectors need to read informative content like this one from Ryan Wright. A “Beckett Sports Card Monthly” type of magazine could showcase some timely past articles from the sports specific issues.

I’m partial to a magazine like @nonsportupdate that’s focused on pop culture & non-sport trading cards though.
Maybe combining both in the form of a flip magazine to display the desired cover

@stalegum @BeckettGMColin That sounds a little like “Beckett Sports Card Monthly” that ran from 2008 to 2022. It highlighted the 4 major sports along with “other sports” and pop culture cards. I miss those long form articles and topics.

@BeckettGMColin If change needs to be made to the monthly model, “quarterly” seems too long. Even @nonsportupdate bi-monthly schedule seemed long. Since Beckett Basketball, Football & Hockey began as bi-monthly going back to that seem like an alternative especially if there’s “all” publication.

@TeeKay1975 @BeckettGMColin You should try the Vintage magazine. Price guides for the 4 major sports up to 1980. The price guide font is reminiscent 1980’s Beckett but with better paper. Articles generally focus on that era, too.

@AriIvy @BeckettGMColin Hobby Editor Ryan Wright & Hockey Editor Allan Muir have been putting out some good articles/content in the magazines. Ironically, the new “Comics! The Magazine” made it a point to include a small price guide. I found the @nonsportupdate price guide useful w/ bad or no internet

It gave just enough highlights of the 4 major sports and sprinkled in “other” sports like auto racing, golf, tennis & even wrestling and non-sports, too. Monthly topics like “the art issue” offered different views at trading cards.

@BeckettGMColin print media focusing on pop culture & entertainment trading cards such as DC, Disney, Marvel & Star Wars would be much appreciated. Resuscitating @nonsportupdate or even Beckett Sport Card Monthly to include other sports like soccer & wrestling could fit the bill
