On the back of @Doug_Paulley sending us his absolutely appalling experience with CrossCountry, we've opened our submissions form.
Do us a solid and scan the below QR or visit https://t.co/EQsR92Z9LX to tell us what you really think of CrossCountry. ^CC
First refurbished CrossCountry Voyager out tomorrow. Diagram XC414: 1E44 and 1M72. 14.28 Birmingham New Street to Newcastle and 18.33 return. https://t.co/cjp1K64XOp
@RailTruthUK @juoig7799 Yes, all Reading services will use Platform 10 or 11 at Newcastle.
You'd think that they'd be lowering the price of the higher capacity service though, apparently not! ^CC
@mitchell_hurd @juoig7799 @speedbird821417 Strengthened and which are left short.
It's a shame and it should have never came to this, but this is the reality of CrossCountry in 2026. ^CC
@mitchell_hurd @juoig7799 @speedbird821417 Then stable the set outside of the station.
We really do hope the decision will be passenger focused and live load monitoring will allow planning teams to assign units where they're most needed. Unfortunately, for now however, it will still be a choice as to what services are
@juoig7799 That then of course leads to massive overcrowding.
Taking the 08:35 NCL - RDG vs the 08:40 NCL - PLY, the Reading service is full and standing from Durham while the Plymouth service is (relatively) quiet... while running with double the capacity.
Logical, eh? ^CC
@juoig7799 Reading services are also routed on the ECML as far as Doncaster, whereas the Plymouth services take the TransPennine route to Leeds and then head to DON via Wakefield Westgate.
You've got a more affordable train, that's 35 minutes faster than the higher capacity alternative.
@mitchell_hurd @juoig7799 @speedbird821417 Any service that is booked as a single Voyager can either run with 4 or 5 coaches interchangeably. All Reading services are booked for 4, with 5 being used if needed.
There's no current plans to mandate 5 coach trains, as far as we're aware. ^CC
@mitchell_hurd @juoig7799 @speedbird821417 If you're referring to the latest commentary made by Shiona Rolfe regarding the Voyager business case, the plan would be to use them to strengthen the Anglo-Scottish and Manchester - South Coast routes.
