@MrDanielBuck I dont agree with a lot of what you write given my own experience as a teacher, counselor, coach, admin in public education. But I respect your decision to not compromise your values. And I 100% am not surprised that you were “shown the line”. That’s the biggest issue in education
@MrDanielBuck I’m watching from a distance…what’s it like right now @MrDanielBuck living in Minneapolis? When people like you who live there say “just because” it makes me think that people like me have a different perspective. I don’t know because I don’t live there.
@MrDanielBuck I don’t know the validity of your claims and based on some of your other claims, I’m a little skeptical. However, I agree that more money and unions aren’t the answer but curious about what their answer has been if your claims are true.
@MrDanielBuck I don’t disagree that there is a ton of wasted time in PD targeting this theory. However, to support the opposition to it I’d love to have research on public, school-aged children. There is a greater cross-section than “adults” in medical school. This research doesn’t really help
@Beanie0597 I agree with a lot of this but with the exponential increase in availability of information schools need to shift the approach. It is boring and irrelevant and students deserve better. A key lesson for them to learn however is sometimes you have to do things that are boring
@JohnHozack@JamesAFurey “Struggling students” so behavior in the holistic sense is worsened. Then behavior in the narrow sense increases and schools respond with harsh consequences (in my experience). The public school model is dead. But punishment isn’t the answer
@JohnHozack@JamesAFurey I don’t like to play into this prevailing narrative that Ss act however they want and schools aren’t doing anything. The conversation that I feel like you’re pushing is a little deeper. Behavior is being used in a holistic sense (which I agree with). Most schools marginalize
@JohnHozack@JamesAFurey I have seen some “no zeroes” policies from some schools. I guess “poorly behaved” could be broader to include “academic behavior” for your point. In the case of behavior/discipline I’ve seen things getting more harsh over the past two years.
