Dear @shekharsuman7 ,

If you truly wish to continue performing the art you have mastered throughout your life, you should seriously consider moving to the United States or Europe.

Please remember that this is no longer the India of the 1990s or the early 2000s, when democracy and freedom of expression could still coexist. This is the New India and institutions such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax Department are used to target dissenting voices. Many believe that the space for artistic freedom and independent expression has narrowed significantly.

Even if you manage to protect yourself from institutional pressure, there remains the fear of fringe elements who, according to critics, may feel emboldened to intimidate or threaten those whose views they dislike. We have seen in past how Gauri Lankesh and Dhabolkar were killed.

No artist should have to worry that expressing an opinion could put their family or personal safety at risk.

An artist deserves an environment where creativity is celebrated, disagreement is tolerated, and expression is protected, not one where fear shapes every word or performance.

For many, India no longer feels like a place where art and free expression can flourish as they once did. It continues to exist as a nation with a rich civilizational heritage, but the space for fearless artistic expression has diminished.

India is no more land of art or expression. This is just a geographical entity existing in this world.

I hope you continue to create, speak, and perform wherever you find the freedom to do so without fear.
