Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Türkiye, @amnabaloch4 has been accommodated (on political quota) in another key diplomatic position after serving as Foreign Secretary.
During her tenure, an alleged Rs12 billion corruption scandal involving the Foreign Ministry’s apostille and document-attestation process came to light. Questions were raised over the handling of the inquiry report and the alleged failure to act against those named in it. Critics have accused Baloch of sitting on the file and providing protection to officials implicated in the report. These allegations require accountability and a transparent investigation.
Yet, despite these serious questions, the political leadership, including @CMShehbaz and @MIshaqDar50 has reportedly facilitated her appointment as ambassador to Türkiye.
Dar has now praised her “dedicated service” and expressed confidence in her ability to strengthen Pakistan-Türkiye relations.
This is the state of Pakistan: serious allegations of corruption raise questions, accountability remains elusive, and those facing criticism continue to receive prestigious appointments. Who will answer for the alleged scandal, and who will be held accountable?
Trump is responsible for supporting the genocide in Gaza, bombing Iran, abducting the Venezuelan President, imposing a murderous siege on Cuba, among other crimes. Have some shame and stop embarrassing 250 million Pakistanis with this obscene sycophancy toward a war criminal!
If someone were to say we must mourn members of the Nazi Party who lost their lives alongside the victims of the Holocaust they’d be rightfully derided. But for Palestinians, they cannot have a moment in which their lives are not tied to their colonizers, even in death.
Stop playing dumb, Mehdi. You know exactly what the grievances are. Stop strawmanning critics and exaggerating their demands.
Mamdani loves to boast that New York City can serve as a model for the rest of the country. Great.
Then let him spearhead a campaign to divest city funds from Israeli bonds and weapons manufacturers.
Whether he can accomplish this with the stroke of a pen or must build a political campaign to force those decisions is beside the point. He has the platform, political capital, and grassroots support of the masses who elected him.
Will it put him at odds with Zionist interests? Absolutely.
But that is precisely the political fight that must take place if meaningful progress is to be made. Leadership isn't just exercising the powers you already possess. It's mobilizing people to achieve what those powers alone cannot.
Instead, Mamdani has used his power to retain Jessica Tisch, walk back his promise to arrest Netanyahu (an empty promise he made on your platform when he needed votes), failed to stop the sale of Palestinian land at Jewish community centers, amplified Israeli atrocity propaganda, and given millions of dollars to organizations who use 'antisemitism' as a way to stifle criticism of Zionism.
But the most egregious betrayals were probably his endorsements of Brad Lander and Hakeem Jeffries.
Lander is a self-declared Zionist who opposes BDS and invested in Elbit Systems during the genocide. Mamdani knew this and endorsed him anyway.
That is the connection critics are drawing between his political choices and the slaughter in Gaza. Indirect? Yes. Imaginary? No.
Taken individually, these are serious concessions to Zionism. Taken together, they suggest his grassroots activist persona was a performative grift. Another politician who campaigns on moral courage only to capitulate once in power. Another Obama. Another AOC.
These protests are a line in the sand. We see the direction he's heading, we reject it, and we intend to hold him accountable. We may be harsh at times but it is actually due to your constant gaslighting.
Your constant refusal to engage with legitimate criticism and failure to acknowledge these problems only intensify the backlash.
If you spent half as much energy guiding Mamdani through constructive feedback and holding him accountable, as you do running cover for him, the response might look very different.
But what can we expect from someone who took three years to seriously address the Hannibal Directive?
Perhaps in another three years you'll acknowledge these issue with Mamdani too.
First, though, you still owe your audience a reckoning over your amplification of the mass-rape hoax.
You know, the bullshit atrocity propaganda that made the genocide possible.
Hurry up, Mehdi. We need you to pick up the pace.
