My new book is released in one week @PrincetonUPress. John Dunn: “Since the United Kingdom is still unique in retaining an unwritten constitution, the contours of which recede into the mists of time, Max Skjönsberg’s impressively accomplished and up-to-date study of the key centuries of struggle to define its spirit shows why that struggle is unlikely to end until the state itself does.” https://t.co/DMY4yRk6Ol

When Paulo Freire began his public education programs in Brazil during the 1960s, 70% of people in parts of the country were illiterate. "And if you couldn't read and write, you could not vote," says Catherine Murphy, co-director of the new documentary "Reading the World."

🇪🇹 ETHIOPIA WAR UPDATE 5
📍 Alliance forces capture Sekota. After two days of heavy fighting, allied rebel forces took control of the historic Amhara town of Sekota, about 720 km north of Addis Ababa.
The Ethiopian military had destroyed the major bridge into the town, as mentioned in our previous update.
Sekota is the hometown of several high-ranking Ethiopian generals. Its capture marks the first major town reportedly taken by the rebel alliance since the current offensive began.
📍 Lalibela prepares for a possible attack. The Ethiopian military is sending paratroopers as reinforcements to defend Lalibela. The army also destroyed its own radar installation there to prevent it from falling into rebel hands.
With Sekota now under rebel control, Lalibela could become the next major target.
📍 Foreign military advisers arrive. Two UAE military advisers who recently arrived in Ethiopia have been deployed to Bahir Dar in the Amhara region.
📍 Afar rebels expand their territory. Afar forces captured three additional districts, bringing the total number of districts under rebel control to 9 out of 32.
📍 Travel warnings issued. The U.S. government has advised its citizens to leave parts of northern Ethiopia, including Afar, Tigray and Amhara. Canada has also issued a travel advisory.
📍 Fano fighters announced that they burned an Ethiopian military tank
📍 Threat toward Eritrea. The deputy commander of the Ethiopian army warned that, if the military launches a full-scale offensive, its targets could include Eritrea’s Red Sea port of Assab.
📍 Kobo becomes a key battleground. The Ethiopian army has reportedly sent seven rounds of reinforcements to defend Kobo. The strategic town is considered important because its loss could expose Woldia to further rebel advances.
📍 Addis Ababa reinforces security. The city police have recalled around 1,000 officers who had previously been redeployed elsewhere.
⚠️ Battlefield developments and military claims remain difficult to independently verify amid ongoing fighting and communications restrictions.
