Kambas are the most peaceful people in this world! All we do is eat mbaazi, muthokoi na tunateremesha na Majembe peacefully. I'm supporting the retaliation in Mwingi. Close the Strait of Mwingi until our officers manage the situation! Na those few stupid somalis wanaharibu a lot of good will.
This road was designed, the drawings were reviewed, and they were approved by Kenya National Highways Authority engineers. I have a simple question: do you believe those engineers approved drawings with an open drainage channel right next to a highway?
After construction, the road was inspected and certified for payment. Another question: do you believe the as-built drawings submitted to KeNHA showed an open drain running alongside a live carriageway?
If we assume it was only the resident engineers who was “seen” by the contractor to turn a blind eye to this obvious hazard, are we also saying that none of the directors at KeNHA have used this road or noticed the mistake?
There is nothing as destructive as corruption. It is a cancer that quietly takes lives, all for the sake of a few extra coins. And those who have the power to act but choose not to ,whether corrupt or simply indifferent ,are part of that harm.
Best quick tests for machine cut stones,
Drop 2 random stones from 1m , good ones ring & don’t break/chip while hitting another.
Hit with hammer – clear “ting” sound = hard,
dull thud = reject.
Scratch with nail/panga – almost no powder = good.
Soak 5 stones 24hrs – weight gain >3% = too porous, reject.
Do drop + ring test before offloading, soak test before final payment. Never trust supplier’s picks!
Contractors for major road projects are no longer employing competent Site Agents. The trend is worrying. First, there is a reason a Site agent should possess qualifications equivalent or superior to those of the Resident Engineer. But this is not happening.
Culprit number one is the Engineer himself. A requirement to approve Contractor’s staff has been overlooked and now unqualified relatives of contractors have taken over Site management doing things the “way they want”, yaani vile wanataka.
Contractors don’t know that failure to employ competent staff results in major losses. Who taught you guys business management? Cheap is a recipe for losses.
As a contractor you need someone competent to make and defend reasonable and justifiable claims. What is this you are saving when you are likely to lose millions at a cost of a few thousands payable to a competent engineer? Sasa kununulia Site Agent Double Cabin Ford Ranger fully loaded plus a net salary of Kshs. 600,000 on a project of Kshs. 800 million pia ni kitu ya kukataa?
But I must blame certain Resident Engineers who have been swallowed by crafty contractors. Let us draw clear lines. Kila mtu afanye kazi yake. If you are in government (KeRRA, KURA, KeNHA, County Government) stick to your calling. What business do you have assisting the contractor generate claims against your employer? You can’t be that cheap buana! Let that guy employ somebody (there are so many qualified engineers outside here who can do what you are meddling in, even much better). Stop contributing to unemployment! You should be a neutral respectful observer, ready to give every party his due.
Dear Serious Contractors, you can do better! Staffing is Key. You will not make losses when you Hire a Professional Engineer as your Site Agent, a Graduate Site Engineer, a qualified surveyor and Materials technologist.
You need competency in supervision of works to manage time and resources, to make claims and guard against rogue resident engineers keen on frustrating you and the project. This is the only way for you to make profits.
~I rest my case~
It's very unfortunate that some adults do so much diservice to children. I outgrew this handicap after losing out on so many opportunities. It's one of the reasons I decided to pursue academia. I can now help students before they are released to the world.
Watu wenye confidence yao iliharibiwa wakiwa watoto know how fear and anxiety inaeza fanya upoteze a lot of opportunities. Confidence and composure can take you great places.
@OkowaNashon@KereNyongesa@MRM_Mabati Why do people imagine that demanding for service that one deserves (not a favor) is wrong or meant to gain attention?
