Great momentum on the Minimum Subsidy Tender (MST) funded by the @AfDB_Group as we work continuously to address the energy access gap in the country.

I have just received update from the team at OffGrid Electric Limited that we’re nearing completion on the 21 mini-grids being deployed in Jigawa State under the MST.

I am delighted to have received a status update from the team at @AcobLimited (ACOB Lighting Technology Limited) on the ongoing construction of a mini-grid in Tunga community, Nasarawa LGA, Nasarawa State under the Minimum Subsidy Tender (MST) funded by the @AfDB_Group (African Development Bank Group).

This project aims to impact positively on the lives of the people of Tunga and increase their standard of living, especially socioeconomically.

In our commitment to driving energy access and closing the energy gap, the @TheREANigeria commissioned five (5) mini-grids in the span of three weeks.

These mini-grids, combined, add a total of 3.49MW of clean, reliable, and sustainable energy to the energy supply of the nation, powering about 20,000 connections.

👷‍♀️ Celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science💡

Over the years, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has sustained efforts to tackle women's underrepresentation in STEM fields, nurturing a growing community of young #WomeninSTEM through the Energizing Education Programme (EEP) female-only STEM Internship.

Through this initiative, the Agency has successfully trained and certified approximately 350 young women, selected from the EEP Phases I and II beneficiary universities. A good percentage of graduates of the EEP STEM Internship have, over the years, taken up active roles in the renewable energy sector.

Today, we join the world in celebrating the incredible contributions of women in STEM, spotlighting two EEP STEM Interns at the REA.

We are proud to be fostering an inclusive and innovative energy sector through our STEM Internship Programme, witnessing these remarkable women breaking barriers, advancing clean energy solutions, and contributing to Nigeria's energy transformation.

Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to:

#DidYouKnow? The Federal Government's Rural Electrification Fund (REF) has successfully delivered 12 solar mini-grids and over 19,000 solar home systems in its 1st Call and 51 additional solar mini-grids in its 2nd Call, now ongoing.

Kasuwan Magani Market in Kaduna State is one of the beneficiary locations under the 2nd REF Call where a 100KwP solar mini-grid was deployed to energize businesses and public facilities at the market.

Today in Abuja, the Ag. MD/CEO of REA, @abbaaliyu_ joined the Honourable Minister of Power, @BayoAdelabu; @DamilolaSDG7, the CEO of @SEforALLorg; @AnitaOtubu, Senior Director, Universal Energy Facility (UEF) and other industry stakeholders at the official signing of @UEF_com grant agreements with 19 private energy developers. This intervention is expected to aid the deployment of 5,000 Stand-Alone Solar (SHS) for Productive Use systems across the nation.
