@FCDOGovUK The situation in Iran should not have come as a surprise. I am shocked there is still no official statement on the situation. We are now hours into a major conflict. 🕰️
I was pleased to be able to head over to Gorton & Denton today to get out the Labour Vote. A vote for Angeliki Stogia is a vote for unity and not division. Polls remain open until 10pm. 🌹
Haven't received your ballot to vote for me in Labour’s Deputy Leadership election?

I condemn violence in the strongest possible terms. Arguments are won with words and not terror. Heart breaking that this is happening in or very close to my own constituency.
I was fortunate enough to participate at #LabourConference2025 today.
✅ Student Grants for those that need them most
✅ New arrangements for freedom of travel for young people visiting the EU
✅ Guarentee of paid work offer for young people
✅ Millions of pounds returned to the taxpayer from dodgy covid contracts.
We are Labour.
(3/3) If Labour is to succeed it’s not enough to win elections; we need someone who understands where we come from, who doesn’t forget the frontlines. That’s why I’m backing Lucy. #deputyleadership#labourparty
Here's why I'm backing @LucyMPowell
(1/3) I'm backing Lucy Powell MP for Deputy Leader because she’s exactly what Labour needs right now – a strong, authentic voice rooted in real life. Born, raised and living with her family in Manchester, Lucy knows first-hand what people face: the hopes, the worries, the daily grind. She doesn’t just talk about communities – she comes from one.
(2/3) Lucy has said she’s standing to bring all parts of the party together, to reconnect Labour with its voters, rooted in values and driven by bold policies. Being Deputy Leader shouldn’t be about titles – it should be about action and being present. Lucy promises full-time commitment, to champion backbenchers, and make sure the voices in Manchester, the red-walls, the urban centres all matter equally.
Murder is never the answer. You "win" the argument through debate. I've sadly seen the video, this was a brutal murder. I did not agree with this man's view's at all but I hope that justice prevails and that the world learns a lesson.
Labour must hear and heed the voice of its Mainstream.
We're honoured to have Mayor of Manchester @AndyBurnhamGM join us to help unlock the transformative potential of the Labour Party.

✅ Why the Government’s Severe Alert Test Was a Good Thing
You might have noticed the severe alert test on your phone today. While it may have felt a little disruptive, the fact it worked is actually a really positive sign.
📱 It shows that, if there was ever a real emergency, we’d all get a warning instantly.
🌍 Similar systems are already used around the world to save lives during floods, wildfires, or major incidents.
🔔 Testing it now means any issues can be ironed out before it’s ever truly needed.
So, while it was just a test today, it’s reassuring to know the system is up and running – ready to protect us if the worst should ever happen.
We need to reform Sunday trading laws. Why are we queuing for food, nappies ect simply because it's a Sunday?
We have a modern dynamic r economy which could cope with people being rostered to work on a Sunday morning.
We must remember that public servants are humans too. There's much discussion about @RachelReevesMP and I don't wish to add anything other than I send my best wishes to her at this time. Whatever it is that she is going through. #BeKind 🌹❤️
