It’s official.
GMB Congress has just made One Parliament One Employer GMB policy.
650 MPs. 650 separate employers. One broken system.
Not for much longer.
I am glad to see someone who has dedicated so much time to the Labour Party is allowed to stand again for the NEC.
I believe Labour is best when voices from all sides of the party are in the room working together. I'll be voting for Jess
Following an investigation, my suspension has been lifted. I have been fully reinstated with immediate effect
I’ve spent my life fighting for a party that represents its members and serves working‑class people
Im standing for re-election to Labours NEC
Let’s get our party back
@LaindonFEMINIST There’s 2 of @LucyMPowell in Oldham on polling day. I’m sure there’s more but these are the ones I had immediate access to. Check the social media of every MP, if they had local elections in their area they were out
I hate this so much. I know that most of the people canvassing in Makerfield were out so much during the locals in their home seats, a lot of which went to either Reform or the Greens. To suggest they didn’t put the effort in is disgraceful and frankly not ok
Imagine if all those people out in Makerfield happy to canvass a seat we already hold had put themselves out to canvass in the local elections in the exact same area that went to Reform.
That would have been a Labour thing to do. But no doubt they weren’t seen hide nor hair of
Anyone who uses 'Northern' as some sort of insult shouldn't be in the Labour Party - we wouldn't even exist without the Trade Union Congress, convened in Manchester to bring together workers from all backgrounds and give them a collective voice.
I think he'd be a brilliant Prime Minister, truly, but I worry about what the journey to get there will do to Oldham & the rest of GM
That being said I will wholeheartedly campaign for him because no matter what, we need the best Labour MPs in Parliament making a difference (2/2)
Lot of complicated feelings about the by-election in Makerfield, and what it means for Labour. Mostly because I've seen the benefits of having Andy as mayor first hand, working with him as part of Oldham Labour to deliver truly transformational projects across the borough (1/2)
I had a guy from the telegraph, who I repeatedly ignored and told I didn’t want to speak to, rock up at my house uninvited.
You are the leader of the party leading the polls. Of course you will have journalists outside
I'm forever grateful to @shah_arooj for her friendship and mentorship to me as a Labour member and as a councillor.
With these results, it is right that we step away from trying to bring an administration together, and we focus on holding whoever succeeds to account
It’s been a huge honour and privilege to serve you. I’m proud of what we have achieved for Oldham and the people of Oldham. I will continue to be a fierce champion for Oldham and Oldham Labour will continue to serve you all ❤️
Members, councillors, MSPs and MSs all need to be part of that conversation too. If the party only focuses on what this result means for the Westminster party they we won’t learn anything and in 2027 we will be in an even worse position
Labour needs to have a serious conversation about how we regain the trust of voters across the country. From Oldham to Lewisham, we’ve seen Labour groups decimated on national policy issues by populists on all sides of the spectrum.
Stand by this. There needs to be a conversation with all parties about what is best for the borough moving forward and an end to the petty and hateful politics we’ve had from across the chamber over the last few years
.@ZackPolanski said this morning these candidates aren’t welcome in his party.
So why is Sabine Mairey - arrested for antisemitism on Thursday - still out campaigning with them in Lambeth?

(Setting aside the “carpet bomb” threat), I note that Nigel Farage and Robert Jenrick both missed the vote … that’s 25% of your MPs. Not that important to you then.
