The Honourable High Court of Madras says, Goondas Act against Santhosh Sharma has been passed for “extraneous considerations”.

Extraneous considerations means “corruption”. This has to be probed. The probing agency is Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC).

You have made him the Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. Now who will conduct the probe against Arun IPS ? Please understand the blunder you have committed and find out who suggested Arun’s name.

First major embarrassment for the 20-day-old TVK government in Madras High Court.

While quashing a Goondas Act detention order, the High Court made strong observations against the new DVAC director , saying the law was misused “deliberately and with full knowledge.”

Despite already knowing the allegations and controversies surrounding this officer, the TVK government appointed him as Director of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption (DVAC), one of the most sensitive police positions in Tamil Nadu.

It is important to remember that during the elections, current CM Vijay himself approached the DGP office alleging that this same officer was deliberately obstructing TVK’s campaign and demanded his transfer out of Tamil Nadu.

Now, after the High Court’s scathing remarks, his continuation as DVAC Director has become difficult to justify.

The government should immediately transfer him out of this key post.
