MLB is getting rid of the clock in the Home Run Derby, per @EvanDrellich
Participants will get 20 swings in the first round and 15 in the final two. On the last pitch of each round, they keep going until they don't hit a homer
You want some optimism?
Get to the All-Star Break 8-10 games above .500 …that’s it. That’s all I’m asking.
Then you’ll roll into the back half of July with Steele coming back. Boyd back. And hopefully a deadline arm.
Stay in the fight ladies and gents. Seasons far from over.
🚨New metric release day from the Statcast factory at Baseball Savant
How much do pitchers miss the bat by? Is the bat over the ball or under? Tied up, or flailing? Is the batter early? Or late?

Props to Pete-Crow Armstrong for making meaningful adjustments since the end of April to turn his season around. He slashed his O-Swing% drastically without any degradation in his batted ball metrics. He is walking more, striking out less, and consistently hitting the ball harder
The "Tarps Off" section was chanting "OVERRATED" when Pete Crow-Armstrong was up.
He crushes a baseball to the section and gives them an imaginary t-shirt wave. 😎

Ben Brown since moving into the starting rotation:
19 IP
1.89 ERA
0.95 WHIP
.171 AVG
29.9 K%
23 K | 6 BB
Brown has been a key piece to the Cubs' pitching staff this season! 🐻
The best version of the Chicago Cubs rotation this year would go:
Cade Horton (injured)
Justin Steele (injured)
Edward Cabrera (injured)
Matthew Boyd (injured)
Shota Imanaga (bubble-wrapped)
I think @PurdueBaseball has a worthy case for postseason inclusion, No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, gave No. 1 UCLA all they could handle in quarterfinals, hopefully the selection committee sees it similarly
More than anything else, the Big Ten deserves more than 4 teams in the field
