I love both of you brothers, but this isn’t true (Paul’s baptism wasn’t spontaneous, for instance). But even if it was, I’m not sure contextual considerations don’t mitigate turning Acts descriptions into 21st century suburban Bible Belt prescriptions.
Dr. Mohler's Truth & Unity Amendment, banning churches with women pastors from the SBC, has passed with nearly 75% of the vote!
A constitutional amendment needs to pass by a 2/3 majority at 2 consecutive annual meetings. Praying that it passes in Indianapolis next year!
I pray it passes and I pray we remember all the work this good man did and all the slander he endured in order to help the SBC obey Scripture.
Mike Law won't be on the platform. He's not a famous name in the SBC. But he is a very, very good man and a faithful shepherd indeed.
Many people hear "experiential Christianity" and assume emotionalism. The Reformers & old Presbyterians meant something very different. They were asking whether the truths of Scripture had actually reached the conscience, heart, and life. Article from Reformation21:
I loved this moment! A deaf man was impaired from being able to make a motion about extending ministry to deaf populations and Clint Pressley rectified that today. #SBC26
While a designated and gifted music leader is great to have, and we ought to develop as many as possible, they are not indispensable to the church's worship.
Our church had an "a cappella Sunday" this past Lord's Day. We do it a few times per year.
The richest moments in worship are always when the congregation's voice rings out the most, whether there are instruments or not.
The SBC’s resolutions committee has written a banger resolution on the office of pastor. It addresses all the current controversies with biblical and confessional clarity.
This resolution is going to serve our entities really well, as well as church cooperation more generally.
Well done, @HunterBaker and committee members!
