@JusticeInMed@shycollie@nerdinmed In some states, nurse practitioners can act independently within the scope of their practice, but that does not include performing actual surgical procedures (just to clarify).
@drmansoorh@drdanchoi With investment banking, though, there is still career advancement and profound increases in comp over time. Physician careers generally plateau after 3-5 years, then it’s just a matter of turning the crank until you retire.
@txsportsdoc@drdanchoi I think this is a huge part of it. You just have to look at the constant downward pressure (when controlled for inflation) on professional fees for the past 30 odd years. Private practice has become less financially tenable, a trend that will only continue.
@haridigresses@garrytan@1Marc An accurate DCF also shows that high growth can be a monstrous lever of value destruction in unprofitable companies 🤷🏻♂️
@atmghn@traumaticum The AI gets the anatomy fundamentally wrong, though. I tried repeatedly and finally gave up.
Double-layer lumbar discs?
Discs in the posterior cervical spine?
Whatever the heck is going on in that anterior cervical spine?
It doesn’t seem quite ready for prime time yet.
@washingtonpost “Inflation has fallen” - that means that prices aren’t increasing as rapidly as they had been, but they are still increasing. Expecting prices to return to prior levels demonstrates a lack of understanding of both inflation and the thin profit margins in the grocery industry.
@JohnsonGabbie Just remember that as a junior resident, you’re doing all the blocking and tackling. Even if it feels like a struggle, or if others seem to excel at that phase, be confident that you can do amazing things when you actually start getting the ball!
@SahilBloom Interesting concept, although it could be applied more aptly to a different field. “Get[ting] to where they are” is dramatically over-indexed for academic productivity, with little relationship to clinical skill. Looking the part doesn’t mean what you might think it means.
@QuintusCurtius That’s the most shocking and indelible film I’ve ever seen. Disturbed my sleep for days afterwards. Years later, I can still play back entire scenes in my head as though I just watched it.
I may not have liked the film, but I can say absolutely that I respect it.
