📚Education is the foundation of stronger communities. The Kipushi Mine recently delivered the first 100 school benches to Mwanga Primary School as part of an initiative to provide 1,000 benches to ten schools across the Kipushi community. This investment, part of the Mine's social responsibility program, is helping create more comfortable and supportive learning environments for local students.
The copper price today in the US is $6.50/lb (LME $14,000), pennies away from all time highs… during what is meant to be the quiet summer months.
Right now, copper stocks are depleting fast and we are likely heading for a ‘stock out’ on the LME driven by relentless demand from the SHFE and Comex. This means stocks could fall to zero.
We have never seen this before... I have little doubt that copper will reach new all time highs in the coming months.
The copper price remains resilient, just below all-time highs, as we see another consecutive day of declines in LME stockpiles. Net available stocks now stand at 107,250 tonnes... which is nothing... as what is left heads both east and west.
Copper import premiums into China are trading at 12-month highs of >$100 per tonne (see chart 👇 courtesy of @BankofAmerica ), as China competes for copper that is otherwise heading to the US.
Meanwhile, the COMEX-LME arbitrage for December is $715/tonne, for March 2027; it's $930/tonne. Total Comex copper stocks now stand at over 1.2 million tonnes. The market still believes that tariffs are coming...
