@slyssabits In TO we had hard lockdown from essentially October to April, so I can fully empathize with your situation. It's infuriating, demoralizing, and just full on shitty. If you need to rant, or want tips on how to go less insane, I'm always available.

@slyssabits And then the academic community wonders why it can't achieve diversity. Not everyone has mommy and daddy's income to fall back on. Not everyone can add a year to their project. The pandemic (and mismanagement) has made academia so much more inaccessible. 😓

@ichnodmc @Ymbenthics I was wondering about this after you ID'd a trace I posted a bit ago! I believe these specimens were given a new ichnogenus name by an MQ PhD student years ago, but I couldn't find the paper (or thesis, maybe?) yesterday. Glenn would know, I'm sure.

Please stop glorifying overwork. This sets an unhealthy standard for graduate students, who model the behaviors of those they admire. While working nights/weekends may, at times, be inevitable, finding work-life harmony is essential for surviving in academia.
