📍Senegal | In 1997, an anti-personnel mine in Casamance changed Yancouba Diouf’s life, costing him his leg.
We supported him with an artificial leg at the Prosthetics Centre in Guinea-Bissau. He later started his poultry farming project through our microeconomic initiative. 🐔🐓
In conflict, people forced to flee carry more than a suitcase; they carry memories and dreams put on hold.
Mohammad, a Syrian refugee in #Jordan whose two brothers went missing in the Syrian conflict, despite everything, continues his life with hope and resilience.

In Mazar-e-Sharif, @ICRC, in partnership with @ARCSAfghanistan provided cash assistance to 400 vulnerable women who are pregnant or feeding a baby to help them buy food & meet their essential needs.
For mothers facing hardship, this support provides stability for their families.
For those forced to flee, safety is more than reaching a destination. It is the chance to rebuild, to belong, and to live with dignity.
On #WorldRefugeeDay, we stand with refugees everywhere and remember that every person deserves not only protection, but also the opportunity to turn hope into a future.
This is 'The shelter that shone in the distance' by the poet, spoken word artist and documentary filmmaker, Mamuch Bey.

No one chooses to leave behind their home, their community, and their life.
On World Refugee Day, we recognize the strength of people forced to flee, as well as the hardship, loss and uncertainty they carry with them.
Civilians remain protected, at all times.
Sexual violence is a key feature of the armed conflict taking place in Sudan.
We recently met some survivors who are taking refuge in Chad. Their testimonies speak to the violence they endured. We stand in solidarity with them, and with all those affected by these atrocities 👇🏽
Sexual violence is never the victim's fault.
Today, we join the world to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of sexual violence in Conflict.

Good afternoon @mgo257, Every person has the right to know the fate and whereabouts of their missing relatives, and to be kept informed about efforts to find them.
If you have lost contact with a family member during the conflict in Sudan, please contact the ICRC (https://t.co/k2X3dE1Zem), or your local Red Cross or Red Crescent society (https://t.co/EkfoJKuSrW) to request help in tracing them.
We apologize if you experience delays in reaching us due to high call volumes. Please be assured that your request is important to us, and we will endeavor to respond as promptly as possible.
Sexual violence has been recorded in over 51 armed conflicts. We work to prevent violence, reduce stigma & support safe access to care.
As we mark the Int. Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, we remind parties to conflicts that this crime is always forbidden.

When #IHL is disregarded:
🔴 civilians bear unacceptable consequences
🔴 humanitarian space collapses
and these impacts are amplified & accelerated by technology
We urge all States to act to uphold #HumanityInWar#PermObserver remarks #ECOSOCHAS ▶️ https://t.co/5YXgzI11BD
When electricity is cut, the impact goes far beyond the lights. In southern Lebanon, the ICRC worked alongside Electricité du Liban to repair a conflict-damaged power line, help restore electricity to over 60,000 people & support access to key services despite ongoing challenges.
Today, we participated in the repatriation of human remains of fallen soldiers between Russia and Ukraine, as agreed by the parties to the conflict.
This marks the 65th repatriation we have supported since 2022, and we are ready continue contributing to this humanitarian effort.

📍Sudan | Like countless families affected by the armed conflict, Fatehia is enduring the anguish of uncertainty.
After her sons left to look for work following their displacement, she has received no call, no message, and no information about their fate.
Families need to be together.
Thousands of families who have fled the armed conflict in Sudan are now living in camps. Together with
@SRCS_SD, @ICRC_Sudan provided essential household items to 1,462 displaced families at Guz Al Salam Camp in Kosti, White Nile.
These families we recently supported fled the conflict in South and North Kordofan and are part of the more than 11 million displaced people across the country.
In northern Hassakeh, Syria, farmers are facing challenges linked to water shortages, electricity cuts, and rising farming costs.
Fahad, a father of two, is one of 129 families who received solar panels, sprinkler irrigation systems, and cash support for ploughing through an @ICRC_sy and @SYRedCrescent initiative.
A single moment. A lifetime of consequences. Sexual violence in armed conflict keeps rising, affecting millions.
The harm not only impacts victims/survivors but also their families and communities over multiple generations.
📍South Sudan | Displaced families in Nagero County, Western Equatoria, have lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods.
Together with the South Sudan Red Cross (@SSRCS), @ICRC_SSudan recently supported 2,500 families with food, essential household items, and kitchen sets. This follows the assistance we provided in April to 3,300 displaced families in Mundri East.
In armed conflicts, in #Ethiopia & elsewhere, @ICRC visits detainees to help ensure humane treatment, better conditions and contact with loved ones.
We engage with authorities bilaterally, and sometimes provide material assistance, like here in West Wellega, #Oromia.
