@MugaluNathan it’s appalling how someone’s dance is triggering you more than the regime’s corruption, abject poverty, unemployment, education/health crisis, oppression, repression, and suppression!
this bandwagon outrage is ridiculous.
I think the UN Secretary General role is just a job for formality. The whole institution is basically just a formality too.
The organisation exists mainly to speak about injustice and raise its voice on ongoing conflicts, but as a body it has no real capacity to actually end them. It doesn’t even have its own army, so it can’t execute anything in a conflict beyond talking and then delegating peacekeeping missions to other countries’ armies.
That doesn’t make sense to me. The UN as a body would have far more power to stop conflicts if it had an independent, neutral army that could rise up and go after the perpetrators of violence in different regions. Right now we see ongoing violence in Sudan, the conflict involving US and Iran, Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and so on. All those conflicts could actually be confronted and stopped by a body that is supposed to be responsible for peacekeeping. Instead the UN can only use its voice and rely on other armies.
So in a way I don’t think this institution is really very useful.
So many conflicts have been dragging on for years and the UN has only been able to talk and borrow other countries’ forces. The role of the new Secretary General won’t change that. The UN simply doesn’t have the capacity. I have no hope in the UN as an institution to end violence and bring real peace unless it addresses this basic issue. It needs the actual muscle and capacity to stop conflicts.
That’s why every country in the world keeps its own army , to protect interests and itself against violence.
If the body that claims to be responsible for maintaining global peace doesn’t even have an army, then it should also be advocating for other countries to get rid of theirs. Otherwise the cycle of violence just continues.
For me, I have no hope in the UN institutions.
@FredShaka@gidth2@Godfrey__K@Wassajja_Aiden She's still going back home to everything she needs because everything is taken care of by the tax payer. I wouldn't care much rolling in the dust too if I was that privileged
If telling a close friend you lost someone or that something is wrong feels like shouting it to the world, then that person is not your friend. You're not friends with the entire world for a reason. Some people are close for a reason. Unless you're looking to weaponize victimhood, seeking solace where you should find it shouldn't be so much work.
@Miss_Patriciah Hajui vile mtu huchanganyikiwa at that moment and the only thing you can think of is just shouting to the world that someone you love is no more .
