Phd student. {Culture}Work Ethic is the only problem of Africa. AGinostic. VENEER Theory. quasi-Misanthrope.✡️ ☯️ Crush on @pia_pounds. Resting in Peace
Every Phd and above average IQ in Africa should solely be obsessed, preoccupied with figuring out how the continent can rise from the bottom.
To Africa, rotting at the bottom of the pecking order is not an existential threat.
It's a vibe.
Tanga, iringa, sumbawanga, kigoma, not forgetting biharamulo specifically nyakanazi village all those places can provide traditional justice by the time u cross that mutukula border back to uganda I swear on my life no individual involved in Lynching sydo would still be alive.
@gloriaolana I had thought it was not a true story until you mentioned Bundibugyo. I have had countless stories of similar cases. Those guys you don't mess around.
This boda guy narrates a story of the two kids he was given in the early morning to take to school. He says kids were dozing. Adds he paid a certain man to seat on a Boda and hold for him the kids untill school.
Warns parents who send kids to school at that very early morning.
These are the kid of boda-boda riders we need.
But parents and again school, why do u need a bellow 5yr kid at school at 6? Do wt exactly?
@Ntalebrian22 If I had children, they would never leave home before 9 and they’d be back in the early afternoon. This nonsense of waking up kids at 5AM is an indictment on us as a society.
So much animosity toward Kasuku from a section of people here on X, with every little thing being blown out of proportion. Love him or loathe him, the facts remain unchanged👋👋👋by virtually every metric, he’s still one of the finest media personalities around. His humility, humour, and professionalism speak for themselves. No amount of criticism or noise will diminish his impact or derail his journey👌👌
The other reason why a new model become dumber with time...the cost of training a new model is high, the cost of running is high.. the owners of these models deliberately downgrade to a dumber version it after the launch to reduce on the OPX
You have noticed it. ChatGPT feels dumber than it used to. Your prompts that worked six months ago produce worse results now. The writing sounds flatter. The ideas sound safer. The internet itself feels like it is shrinking. Every article reads the same. Every email sounds the same. Every answer sounds like it was written by the same voice.
You thought it was you. It is not you.
Researchers at Oxford and Cambridge published a paper in Nature proving what is happening. They call it Model Collapse.
Here is the mechanism in one sentence. AI trained on AI-generated data gets dumber every generation until it forgets what real human data looked like.
The internet is filling with AI-generated content. Blog posts. Articles. Reviews. Comments. Social media. AI companies scrape the internet to train the next generation of models. Which means the next generation of AI is being trained on the output of the current generation.
Each cycle loses information. Not randomly. It loses the rarest, most unusual, most creative parts first. The researchers call these the "tails of the distribution." The weird ideas. The unexpected perspectives. The things that made the internet feel human. Those disappear first.
What remains is the average. The safe. The expected. The bland.
Then the next generation trains on that. And loses more. And the next generation trains on that. And loses more. The researchers proved this is not a slow decline. Major degradation happens within just a few iterations. Even when some of the original human data is preserved.
They tested it on large language models. On image generators. On statistical models. The pattern was the same every time. The output converges toward a narrow, flattened version of reality that looks nothing like the original data.
The lead researcher put it plainly. "Large language models are like fire. A useful tool. But one that pollutes the environment."
The pollution is invisible. You cannot see which sentence on the internet was written by a human and which was written by AI. Neither can the AI that is about to train on it. And once the tails are gone, they do not come back. The damage is irreversible.
This is not a prediction anymore. It is a diagnosis.
The internet you grew up on was built by humans writing things no algorithm would have written. Strange, personal, imperfect, alive. That internet is being diluted. One generation of AI at a time. And the models trained on what remains are learning a smaller and smaller version of the world.
Model Collapse is not a technical problem. It is a cultural one. The thing that made the internet worth reading is the thing that disappears first.
Plans to build data centres have been halted in many US cities/states for the same reasons.. wherever data centres have been built, electricity bills have sky rocked. For other problems residents are facing, do some googling on the subject.
AFRICA
- Last month, May 2026, Kenya -- Africa's sixth-largest economy -- halted plans for Microsoft to build a data centre.
It would have used 30% of Kenya's electricity, plunging Kenya into darkness.
That even Kenya doesn't generate enough power was a humbling revelation.
Africa is a culturally the most diverse continent with over 3,000 ethnicities. Why do people expect them to have a single world view or identity?
Same reason "AFRICA UNITE" is a ridiculous idea.
@TimKalyegira For this one, there's no one-size-fits all (Africans). You won't find common answers for Americans or Europeans either. But you will find similarities across continents on an individual level.
@TimKalyegira The African has "virtues and defects of attractive children." Are "happy, thriftless, excitable people" who "lacked self-control, discipline," with "minds much nearer to the animal world" and "lived primarily for the moment with little thought for the future." (Fredrick Lugard)
#JusticeforSydney this campaign shows that Ugandans are short term thinkers..the better campaign should be #endMobJustice culture . It ensures that there's no repeat of what happened to Sydney. That's better justice for him. Otherwise we shall be back here when it happens again
