Reactionary forces are redefining "free speech" to rule out "freeing speech".

That is, speech about freedom, designed to achieve freedom, or itself an expression of freedom.

The only speech left "free" is what represents, defends, or stays silent about the unfree status quo.

It gets worse. The EPP is not Christian-democratic anymore, but fully conservative.

Progressives should prepare for a scenario where the EPP abandons the centre and collaborates openly with ECR and ID.

With the requisite show of dewy-eyed handwringing, of course.
