@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania lol no it doesn’t. The point was almost ALL playoff teams have top 3 picks(not how they got them) as one of the top options so saying top picks doesn’t matter & just develop later picks isn’t backed by actual evidence , which is factual. Good teams have former top picks
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania Jesus. Losing is a direct correlation of trading players for picks. If you don’t trade those players, you don’t lose. You don’t trade those players you don’t have those picks. The road is different but the destination was the same; to suck now to win later. Why not just compete?
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania They benefited from losing. It may not been a direct benefit but without choosing to suck that season you don’t have those picks: those 2 things have a direct correlation and are related. Whether u suck for ur own picks or to receive picks, u still choose to suck for picks.
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania Very true, no one blamed them. But they %100 tanked that season in order to receive those picks . Intentionally getting rid of good players for future assets is tanking. And that’s ok. It worked out for them
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania Tanking isn’t about just juicing your own picks. Trading good players who will help you win in order to lose or get future items is tanking also. It’s not just sitting players , it’s removing any player who helps you win now.
@MasonV64884@UofBasketball And I’m talking about what got them to this point. Deciding to blow up a playoff a team , not once but twice(CP3 year) in order to get SGA and Chet. Without deciding to blow up playoff teams and tank, they have neither of those players
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania That is %100 tanking. You trade a team that just was in the conference finals for future picks is tanking on the now for the future. THEY CHOSE to be bad, they didn’t have to be 27 win bad
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania So again if a team like the Nets that has no star to trade and they don’t get a top 3 pick, how do they get better ? No team outside of the Nuggets is winning without those things having had taken place
@MasonV64884@UofBasketball They tanked for multiple. Had SGA played and not sat, they wouldn’t have been in the lottery. Hell trading multiple stars to get future picks is TANKING . They could have kept PG and Westbrook but decided to be worst in the short term. That’s tanking
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania Cs blew up their team & lost 57 games to get those picks. OKC traded former top 2 pick to get PG to get SGA. LA traded 2 former top 3 picks to get AD to get to Luka. So again all those required starting w/ stars or top picks . If u don’t have those already, how do u get them?
@MasonV64884@UofBasketball SGA is the league MVP. They traded Olidapo (former top 3 pick), for PG , who got them SGA. SGA isnt there without a former top pick to trade . So again if you don’t have a star or former top pick to trade how do you build a playoff roster ? Pray for a Giannis, Steph or
Jokic ?
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania 76ers drafted VJ/Embid. Celtics drafted Tatum/ Brown. Lakers traded multiple former top 3 to get to Luka. Thunder had to trade a superstar to get a future star. So if you can’t get a top 3 pick or have a star to trade, how do you improve ? Not many did it through just “develop”
@MasonV64884@UofBasketball How did the Thunder reach this point? By trading one of their stars and another former top 3 picks to get more picks + a young stud. So how do you trade for that young stud like the Thunder if you never have a star ?
@StephenLindsey@meie_seas@NutshellSportz@ShamsCharania Nuggets are the only playoff team without a top 3 pick. Many of those teams like the Cavs, Spurs, Lakers, Rockets, Raptors, 76ers have multiple former top 3 picks while the Thunder had a star & tanked to get a top 3 pick. Where are the GMs who built a good team without top picks?
