I read a lengthy article in today's Sunday Nation authored by PS Dr Raymond Omollo on the symbolism and significance of tomorrow's Madaraka day celebrations in Wajir. What quickly caught my eyes was the sweeping hyperbole and hallow polemics of inclusively and development for all. But i then quickly, noticed that Dr. Omollo has no regard for history, especially the history of the North. Remarkably, I didn't see or read what arrangements Dr Omollo and Governor Abdullahi of Wajir County have made to accommodate or facilitate the meaningful participation of the souls of the 6000 men/women who were massacred in Wagalla few hundreds of meters from the stadium in 1984. I'm told the souls of the 6000 men/women/children (may Allah rest their sould in janah) massacred by the government want their rightfull seats in the stadium and want hear if their killings will be addressed. How will Northern Kenya move forward when its torturous history isn't acknowledged let alone addressed by successive administrations? Why can't these nominal leaders of the North speak for their people and Insist on getting answers? Will Governor Abdullahi and the politicians of the North speak for the 6000 innocent people killed a few meters from the stadium or will their sing dantoo and lullabies? Will H.E Ruto address historic injustices in the North in a genuine and meaningful manner? Will these spineless political elites put President Ruto to task and ask him to address the history, the present and future of the North? Or will sheepishly smile and cry "karibu mtukufu rais...karibu mtukufu rais...makofi...makofi..." Unlike his predecessor, President Ruto has ear and time for the North and its issues. If he is engaged robustly and with a pen and paper, H.E Ruto will deliver...do your numbers good people and engage him tonight and tomorrow.

On February 10th, 1984, one of the biggest crimes against humanity occurred in kenya. An atrocity committed by the Kenyan army against ethnic Somalis in Wajir county.
The Wagalla massacre, a forgotten genocide in Kenya.
My community (Somali) fights for space in the national govt masquerading as a minority/marginalised. When leaders (read Governors) in my community are, however, given a chance to form a govt, they marginalise the minorities in their counties without an iota of guilt. Disgraceful

@WaWajir Yeah and hosting iftaar here yet those who really need it are in Wajir? Some are thinking of lineups and winning the seats after having 10years of devolution! I think we as north eastern people should think of development instead of the tribe/clan of an individual. Really sad😭
