The WAYG Organising Committee met with representatives of the Olympic sports federations who officially announced their participation in the inaugural West Asian Youth Games.

It was a follow-up meeting to assess the organisational progress of the event.

National Olympic Comitte of Iraq launched a slogan and a mascot for the first edition of the West Asian Youth Games to be held in April next year.

The President of the Olympic Committee, announced during the ceremony his determination to upgrade the high performance sport.

Yesterday we attended the final of the Iraqi Taekwondo Championship for clubs with Mr Haitham Abdul-Hamid, and Mr Mahmoud Abbas.

The competition was attended by 176 atheletes representing 60 clubs from different provinces of the country.

After four days in Amman I would like to thank the Arab Basketball Confederation for inviting me to the Arab Women's Basket Championship.

It was a pleasure to watch the games between teams from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Algeria.

This week has been held the first meeting for the Olympic development.

This week we have been in Sulaymaniyah, visiting different training groups to explain the strategic plan that we are developing.

Taking advantage of our visit we have visited some sports facilities that will host the 3x3 and table tennis in the West Asian Youth Games

Excited about the start of the season.

After closing the olympic cycle with Paris 24, we started working for the olympics of LA28.

The first step will be the Asian Indoor Games to be held in thailand at the end of november.

After the celebration of the Olympics in Paris we start with the preparation of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.

We will be working hard to create a sporting structure that will allow Iraq to achieve new achievements in upcoming events.

Olympic weightlifting competition takes place tomorrow 10th august

the Iraqi powerlifter, Ali Amar Yasser will compete in the +102kg category.

This week we had a meeting with the different federations to prepare the West Asian Games 2025.

I am very happy that NOCI has entrusted me to lead this project together with the Secretary General. We will work hard to get the approval of the Olympic Council of Asia.

The West Asia Youth Basketball Championship starts today in Baghdad

The Iraqi capital is set to host the West Asian Youth Basketball Championship for U-18s with six national teams taking part: Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen.
