Hiking festival! Let's explore the lesser known Algarve!
Occurring between August and September in the emblematic local product gathering season, the goal is to run the festival during a time in which “there’s more people around” and when fruits like fig and almond are picked.
By doing this, the festival is creating a “different offer” to what traditionally exists at this time of year, offering new experiences such as going to pick the fruits in an authentic way!

This fruit is so popular in the Algarve that during the year figs are often dried whole and enjoyed months later stuffed with almonds, cinnamon and spices! Did you know that?
A Mediterranean treasure for sure!
Portugal may blessed with an incredible selection of everything from seafood to fruits, nuts, wines, dairy, desserts, oil, salt, cured meats, breads, preserves, spices…you name it. But do you know which fresh fruit is back in season?
Yummy Figs!

Algarve fig trees produce fruit twice a year, in spring the popular “Figo Lampo” and in fall a second coming with a number of mixed varieties! They're amazing when eaten fresh, with honey, cheese, in salads, baked, grilled, whatever your imagination can dream!
