Muchas personas quedaron atrapadas por encima de los pisos en llamas, mientras los bomberos intentaban desesperadamente hacer todo lo posible por salvar sus vidas. Para quienes estaban atrapados en las torres en llamas, prácticamente solo había dos opciones: morir lentamente a causa del fuego o saltar y enfrentar una muerte rápida.

Fue profundamente triste ver a tantas personas perder la vida, mientras todo era transmitido en vivo por las noticias.

Perhaps we can make this photo go viral again. This is Officer Chris Amoroso of the NYNJ Port Authority Police. This photo is from September 11, 2001, with the towers behind him. After saving this pregnant woman Chris decided to go back in for his 5th time. Despite having a wife and baby at home, despite being only 29 years old, Chris and 59 other Police Officers and 343 Firefighters never made it back out. You can curse us out, spit, defund and disrespect us, but when you call we will be there. Thats what makes us different. Im not looking for responses especially political ones. Just remember Chris and share his story. No sports number on his chest, no large contract no anthem to kneel to, just a real hero. #NeverForget

Even 25 years later, hearing these phone calls is just utterly heartbreaking.
Hearing that voicemail is just so crushing to listen to even now.

Brooke was 23. Cantor Fitzgerald, 104th floor of the North Tower. She’d spoken to her mum the night before… then she called home again that morning and nobody was there. So this is what got left on the answering machine.

You can literally hear the pain and anguish in her voice. Crying. Coughing. Trying to stay calm enough to tell them where they were northwest corner, windows smashed so they could breathe, 30 or 40 people huddled in a corner.

It’s even still hard to listen to now. Just heartbreaking. You can feel her sadness. And I think you get the feeling that they knew they were facing imminent death.

She knew. You can hear it in her voice, I can’t imagine how scared she and her colleagues must of been.

I lost my Dad on 9/11. I don’t get a lot of reach on here. But I just wanted to share a picture. He was 39. I thought he was old. I’m now in my mid 30s and I still feel like a kid.

He was a great trader. He loved markets. He loved to find a stock no one was talking about.

The first trade I ever placed was on his work computer, where he let me click the button to buy AMAT. I loved going to the office with him. It was electric.

He was the best dad. We spent hours out in the street after dinner where he’d throw “pop flys” for me to catch. Eye on the ball.

He loved watching Sponge Bob and eating cereal, wrestling with us in the living room. He just loved being around his kids so much, and we knew it. I’m so grateful I got a dad like that.

I reread this every year.

I cry like a baby every year.

Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.

Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.

Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?

Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.

Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.

Lisa: Are you okay?

Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.

Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?

Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.

Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.

Lisa: I promise.

Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.

Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)

Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.

Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.

Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.

Lisa: What are you going to do?

Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.

Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.

If you were young in 2001, or weren’t even born yet, it can be hard to imagine what 9/11 felt like. The shock of that beautiful, cloudless morning. The heartbreak of the families whose loved ones were taken with such swiftness and cruelty. The realization that the forces of malevolence and violence were closer, and the future less certain, than we knew.

But in the days that followed, we felt something else, too. Pride in the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene, and the passengers who had stormed the cockpit. Admiration for the men and women who left behind lives of comfort to serve their country. A deep resolve that nothing would break the will of a truly United States of America.

Today Michelle and I are remembering those we lost that day, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed. We pray for their families. And we hope Americans everywhere remember the true lesson of 9/11: that we can survive even our darkest days as long as we move forward as one nation and one people.

Ladder 3 was one of the first firefighter units to show up at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Sadly, its crew perished in the collapse of the North Tower. Their truck is now displayed in the NYC Memorial.

I am deeply saddened by the killing of social media commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, in his home in Kano.

No disagreement, criticism, or neighbourhood dispute can ever justify the taking of a human life. Those who speak up, express their opinions, or hold different views must not be made to live in fear.

I urge the Kano State Government and the relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into this tragic incident and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.

Our Constitution guarantees every Nigerian the fundamental right to freedom of expression. That right must be protected for all, regardless of our differences.
