It is patently unlawful and unconstitutional to enlist the use of the Kenya Defence Forces to prevent the fundamental right of Kenyans to demonstrate. The Gazette Notice by Defence Cabinet Secretary is a nullity and contemptible. Plus even if it could be justified, which it cannot be, the Gazette Notice could only be lawfully issued by the President as Commander in Chief.

Never before in our history have we had the kind of scenes we witnessed in and outside of Parliament today. The young men and women whose lives were cut shot by security forces today did not die in vain. We mourn them as heroic foot soldiers who gave their lives to the never ending struggle for freedom and democracy in our beautiful country. May their youthful souls rest in eternal peace.
