Deeply saddened and pained by reports of loss of life of civilians and police personnel in the continuing unrest on the other side of LOC especially in Rawalakot and Poonch. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and all those affected by these tragic events.
I am also concerned by the ongoing discussions regarding representation and the constitutional and political status of the large number of Kashmiri State Subjects residing in Pakistan. Questions touching upon identity, representation and political rights require sensitivity, dialogue and broad public confidence.
The legitimacy and strength of any system of governance rests ultimately upon the consent, trust and confidence of the people it serves. Our history and our shared social, cultural and family ties across the Line of Control remind us that happenings in one part of Jammu and Kashmir are deeply felt in another, and among our diaspora communities
around the world.
My family has a longstanding historical associations with the social, educational, religious and political development of communities across Jammu and Kashmir, including those on the other side of LOC .
As I continue to hear expressions of anguish and distress from people across the LOC reaching out regarding the unrest, I urge the Govt of Pakistan and the local Government there, to prioritise dialogue, restraint and engagement, resolving the differences through consultation and accommodation rather than confrontation, with respect for human rights and the sanctity of human life remaining paramount.
I also appeal to protesting parties to exercise wisdom and responsibility. Both need to work towards restoring peace and public confidence at the earliest.
I pray for lasting peace and stability for all people of Jammu and Kashmir on both sides of the LOC and its resolution.
The J&K authorities on Sunday (July 12, 2026) barricaded the roads leading to the Naqshband Sahib shrine, which houses the graves of 22 civilians killed during an uprising against the Dogra monarchy in 1931, @peerashiq reports.

On July 13 each year, ‘Martyrs’ Day’ is observed in Jammu and Kashmir in remembrance of 22 Muslims killed by Dogra forces in 1931. Here’s how the events of July 13, 1931, became Kashmir’s Martyrs’ Day and changed the Valley’s political history.

#WATCH: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti accused the BJP of politicising the legacy of the 1931 martyrs by portraying it as a Hindu-Muslim and regional issue. Condemning restrictions around the Martyrs' Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib and claiming she had been placed under house arrest, she said the sacrifices of those killed in 1931 awakened the people of Kashmir and laid the foundation for democratic rule, adding that their place in the region's history could never be erased.

“And never think of those who have been killed in the way of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.” (Qur’an 3:169)
On this 13th of July, we remember the martyrs of 1931 whose sacrifice became a defining moment in Kashmir’s collective journey for justice, dignity and the right to be heard.
It is deeply regrettable that even the simple act of visiting the Martyrs’ Graveyard to offer prayers and pay respects has been met with restrictions. Remembering those who gave their lives and honouring their memory peacefully is neither a crime nor a threat—it is a reflection of a society’s respect for its own history.
Their legacy reminds us that justice, dignity and truth demand courage and steadfastness. May we continue to uphold these values and ensure that remembrance is never restrained.
With deep emotion and reverence we pay our respects and glorious tributes to our first Martyrs, who 95 years ago on this day, by their supreme sacrifice laid the foundation of the people’s struggle for justice, dignity and human rights. A struggle that continues.
It is painful and unfortunate that the people of Jammu Kashmir are prevented by force, from offering fatiha and paying homage to the martyrs, as all roads leading to Mazar-e-Shuhada, Naqshband Sahib, are blocked and barricaded and restrictions imposed around Jama Masjid Srinagar and I have once again been placed under house arrest.
Graveyards may be sealed, roads blocked and people confined, the Martyrs live in our hearts, and our collective memory for all times.
May Allah grant them and all the Shuhada e Jammu Kashmir the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.
Salam to Shuhada-e-Kashmir
A Muslim man was brutally assaulted by a group of right-wing vigilantes in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, after he was seen with a Hindu woman. The woman was also assaulted assaulted by the right wing goons as she repeatedly tried to shield and save the man from the attackers. Police rescued the couple and took them to the police station. The goons are yet to be identified and arrested despite them giving media statements of the bravery. Let's hope the authorities don't end up taking action against the couple instead of those responsible for the assault.
We have been placed under house arrest on the eve of Martyrs Day for reasons best know to JK Police. This is the normalcy they claim to have established in Kashmir? Make no mistake the local government too is hand in glove using police in Sidhra to demolish homes & place opponents in detention when convenient.
An old CNN report on #Srebrenica.
“It was so quiet, there wasn’t even the sound of the birds,” Tuco, 48, said last month as a digger probed for bones in the yard of an empty house. “Once I started, I never stopped.” ▪️
Today we released a documentary about Srebrenica. YouTube for some reason put a note about the holocaust on it and shadow banned it. I guess our genocides don’t count. Please watch and share the video to help us overcome the shadow ban.
